Iran, Chabahar Port Released Its First Consignment to Thailand via India

Iran Chabahar port has recently carried out its first cargo movement to South East Asia via the Indian commercial port of Mundra.

Moreover, the director-general of ports and maritime department of Sistan-Baluchistan Province, Behrouz Aghaei, confirmed the trade transit saying that the first cargo ship caring non-edible fish left Chabahar port for the Indian commercial port of Mundra. Which were thereon carried to its final destination, Bangkok port, Thailand?

Forth shipment of Afghan goods

The director-general further confirmed the fourth transit goods shipment from Afghanistan to India. The shipment went via Shahid Beheshti terminal in Chabahar port. The consignment of wheat from India also went to Afghanistan via Chabahar port in the past.

Also, Iran is planning to increase the capacity of the Chabahar Port from the current 2.5 million tones to 8.5 million tones.

Chabahar Port

It is a port city, some 645km towards the south of Zahedan. The center of Sistan-Baluchestan province. Zahedan lies by Oman sea.

Iran’s minister of industry, trade, and mining, Hossein Modares Khiabani stated that the port will transform into the country’s third trade hub. This was mentioned in a meeting of Sistan-Baluchestan Province’s Economic Taskforce. Iran expressed confidence over its strategic location as well as infrastructure and capacities.

Chabahar Zahedan Railway Project

Furthermore, the Chabahar Zehdan railway project includes the country’s sole oceanic port, Chabahar to the national railway network. Similarly, some of the goals that fall under the project are establishing multilateral trade and transit exchanges. Connecting Central Asia and Afghanistan to ocean waters.

The development plan will boost exports and the volume of transit from the country. Hossein Shahdadi, the deputy director-general of Sistan-Baluchestan Province’s Ports and Maritime Department, told IRNA.

India and Iran Remain committed despite differences

Additionally, over the rising tensions between Iran and India earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson recently tweeted. On July 25 he said, “Iran has a longstanding policy of maintaining balanced, friendly relations w/ all Eurasian & E/S Asian powers. He further adds that “Our potential long-term cooperation agreements with China & Russia, & our continued joint work with India in Chabahar prove this.\”

Moreover, India says things went sour when Iran insisted to hand over the contract to Khatam al-Anbiya. India expresses concerns over it to be a revolutionary guard entity that falls under US secondary sanctions.
