South Asia Times invites scholars, analysts, diplomats, policymakers, journalists, and informed practitioners to contribute op-eds and analyses. We publish pieces that take a clear position, defend it with evidence, and add fresh value to the public conversation on geopolitics, security, diplomacy, economics, governance, and regional affairs.

1. What We Publish

  • Makes one central argument and develops it with specificity.
  • Draws on data, documented events, or credible analysis.
  • Engages with counterarguments rather than ignoring them.
  • Adds something to the public debate that has not already been said.

2. Word Count & Format

Length: 800–1,200 words.

Language: English only.

Format: Word document. No footnotes. All references and sources must appear as inline hyperlinks within the text.

Data and claims: All statistics must be sourced to credible institutions. We do not accept pieces that cite Wikipedia or unverified social media posts as primary sources.

3. Author Requirements

Contributors must submit a short bio of two to three sentences, a headshot, and their social media handles (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) so we can tag and amplify their work, along with their submission.

We welcome and accept submissions globally, regardless of author's origin or affiliation. Submissions without complete author information will not be reviewed.

4. Editorial Standards

Accuracy

All factual claims are verified before publication. The editorial team reserves the right to remove or correct claims that cannot be independently verified.

Independence

We do not publish op-eds that serve as undisclosed advocacy for a government, political party, corporation, or interest group. Contributors must disclose any relevant affiliations or funding relationships.

Fairness

Arguments must engage with the subject honestly. Pieces that misrepresent opposing positions or rely on selective quotation will be returned for revision.

5. Simultaneous Submissions

We do not accept simultaneous submissions. If your piece is under consideration at another publication, please inform us before submitting. If you withdraw a submission, notify the editorial team immediately.

6. Review Process

All submissions are reviewed by the editorial team. We aim to respond within five working days. Acceptance does not guarantee a specific publication date. The editorial team reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, and house style; substantive edits will be shared with the contributor before publication.
