Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto had planned to visit Pakistan this week, immediately after attending the Indian Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi as the chief guest on Monday last.

Highly placed diplomatic sources told The News here on Tuesday that New Delhi “exerted pressure” on their guest of honour not to travel to Pakistan immediately after the India tour. The Indians claimed that they had de-hyphenated their affairs with Pakistan and for this reason, it wouldn’t be appropriate for the Indonesian president to travel to Islamabad from New Delhi.
