Sri Lankan Telco Invites Public to 5G trials

The beginning of 5G in Sri Lanka

Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, sent open invitations to customers to register for their 5G trial network. Subscribers can register their 5G device on www.dialog.lk/5g for the ultimate 5G experience.

They will also stay updated as Dialog expands its 5G trial network into more areas. This 5G trial is in collaboration with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).

They led in paving the way for the spectrum in the 3.5GHz band for the piloting of pre-commercial 5G services in the country.

The Details

These endeavors can hold great prospects for Sri Lanka. Not only will the country have 5G, but can eventually innovate for related products and services, and access to the global marketplace. This will facilitate industries to leverage the benefits of 5G.

Dialog covers more than 92% of the Sri Lankan population with 4G broadband and has upgraded over 20% of its expansive base station network to a “5G Ready Status”.

Nationwide 5G coverage is soon to be on cards for Sri Lanka. The island country is the first in South Asia to have 5G coverage.
