Takfir Over Truth And Why ISKP Fears Pakistan’s Role In The Muslim World

The latest propaganda piece from an ISKP-aligned platform is long on noise and short on substance. It is filled with religious denunciations, emotional accusations and abusive language, yet it offers no coherent argument, no credible evidence and no theological reasoning worthy of the name.

The real story is not what they are saying. It is what they have chosen to attack.

A revealing target

The platform is now taking aim at Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the Haramain and at its standing as a responsible security partner in the Muslim world. That standing has been formalised through the Makkah Alliance for Defence, which Pakistan joined alongside Saudi Arabia and Türkiye to defend the Kingdom and its sacred cities.

This is a telling choice of target. Pakistan’s growing stature appears to threaten the extremists’ self-appointed claim to speak for Islam. Having failed to establish religious legitimacy through reason or conduct, they now seek to discredit Pakistan and the religious scholars who support its role.

A familiar pattern

The content fits neatly within the wider anti-Pakistan messaging of ISKP-aligned networks. The group’s media arm, the Al-Azaim Foundation, has spent years producing propaganda that threatens the Pakistani state, targets its religious parties and scholars, and seeks to inflame sectarian divisions. Pakistan, for its part, dealt that apparatus a severe blow with the arrest of Al-Azaim’s founder and the group’s chief spokesperson, Sultan Aziz Azzam. Whether foreign handlers specifically commissioned this latest attack remains to be established.

The fundamental contradiction

One question cuts through the noise: since when did protecting the Haramain become an offence against Islam?

The propagandists offer accusations and excommunication. Pakistan’s stated commitment, by contrast, is to defend sacred places and contribute to collective security. Against the backdrop of Houthi missile attacks on the Makkah and Madinah regions, that commitment is not abstract. It is a duty Pakistan has openly accepted.

The moral distinction

The attack only sharpens the line between a state accepting responsibility for Muslim security and extremists trying to monopolise Islam through takfir and violence.

Those who find the protection of the Haramain objectionable have exposed their own ideological position. They have not disproved Pakistan’s.
