Doha Returns To Tehran While Houthis Reject Makkah Drone Claim

Qatari Mediators Back In Tehran

Qatari mediators returned to Tehran on Friday 30 October to push for a US Iran deal, Reuters reported, citing an unnamed official briefed on the talks who said the mediation is coordinated with Washington. The visit follows the draft peace plan Qatar presented on 25 October, which a senior Iranian official, also unnamed, called unacceptable while insisting Tehran would hold its nuclear position, according to Arab News. Foreign Minister Araghchi said on 28 October that Iran was in close contact with intermediaries on its own seven day proposal, Iran International reported. The Qatari foreign ministry has yet to issue a statement.

Houthis Deny Makkah Drone

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree on Friday 30 October rejected as false the coalition’s account of a Houthi drone intercepted over the Makkah region, Reuters reported. Saree said the group had carried out no operation towards Saudi territory and that its operations target Saudi oil facilities and military bases, according to Al Monitor. The coalition had reported the interception earlier on Friday.
