Cries of Palestinians: The Human Cost of Conflict and Pakistan’s Principled Diplomatic Stand

The military onslaught launched by Israel on Gaza has pushed the Palestinian territory into an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. What began as a large-scale military operation has turned Gaza into a vast landscape of dust and debris. Entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble,infrastructure including hospitals, schools, universities and water systems lie destroyed, and the once-thriving communities now face severe shortages of food, medicine and shelter.

The death toll has crossed 71,000 Palestinians, a majority of them women and children while thousands more remain injured and displaced. What was once a living society now stands as a symbol of immense human suffering.

The much-publicized peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump failed to deliver any meaningful breakthrough. Instead of addressing core issues like illegal occupation, settlement expansion and the right to self-determination, the plan was widely criticized for being heavily tilted in favour of Israel, further deepening Palestinian despair and regional tensions.

As another Eid approaches, the scenes in Gaza are heart-wrenching. Families will mark the festival not in joy but amidst broken buildings and shattered hopes. Children will play in the ruins of their homes, parents will mourn their lost loved ones and entire communities will struggle to find basic necessities. The festive spirit has been replaced by grief, resilience and an unrelenting fight for survival.

Pakistan has maintained a firm, consistent and principled diplomatic position. Pakistan has strongly advocated for the immediate and permanent ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access and full implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The lasting peace in the Middle East is impossible without the establishment of a sovereign, independent State of Palestine on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif East Jerusalem as its capital.
