Facing Adversity: Army and Veterans Unite

On Thursday, August 15, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir honored Pakistan Army veterans with a reception. Many retired army leaders and troops, including General Raheel Sharif and General Ashfaq Kayani, attended the occasion. General Munir honored the retired personnel’s services during the ceremony. He underlined the value of cooperation and fortitude in the face of adversity. The event also demonstrated the close relationship between the Pakistan Army and its veterans. The veterans supported addressing challenges to internal and external security. They expressed their faith and confidence in the army’s leadership.

General Syed Asim Munir urged the veterans to stay involved in Pakistan’s advancement and development. He emphasized the vital role of cooperation and resilience in overcoming obstacles. He also warned about the growing threat of propaganda and fake news, which he claimed are being spread by adversaries to undermine the relationship between the Pakistani people and the armed forces. General Asim ensured that these efforts would be in vain if the country, especially its veterans, continued to support them.

Unity Against Pakistan’s Enemies

“Enemies are trying to weaken the relationship between the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces through fake news and propaganda. The unwavering support of the nation, including ex-servicemen, will thwart all such futile efforts,” the Army Chief maintained.

In response, the veterans pledged their continuous support for the Pakistan Army’s leadership in tackling both internal and external security concerns. They also expressed their faith in the army’s leadership.
Speaking earlier on August 14 during an Independence Day ceremony at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, COAS Asim Munir emphasized the need of opposing these initiatives in line with the goal of “Azm-i-Istehkam.” He warned that anyone trying to topple the government would eventually face disappointment.

The Operational Reality on Ground.

Tirah Valley, long exploited by Kharij networks and their facilitators, has been subjected to sustained intelligence-based operations (IBOs) rather than any conventional military offensive. Grounded in intelligence, community engagement, and the Bagh Joint Action Plan (BJAP), Pakistan’s approach prioritizes civilian protection, targeted neutralization of terrorists, and the restoration of long-term stability, countering persistent propaganda with verifiable facts.
