PIA flight steward suspended for smuggling 16 mobile phones from Canada, raising concerns over airline operational integrity.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) suspended senior flight steward Faisal Majeed Pehnwar for smuggling mobile phones from Canada. According to Express News, customs officials discovered 16 mobile phones hidden on his person. This discovery led to immediate disciplinary action by the PIA management.

The General Manager of PIA Flight Services issued a show-cause notice, stating that customs officials found the phones during their check of passengers arriving on the flight.

The notice stated, “Customs officials discovered 16 mobile phones concealed on your body upon your arrival at the [Karachi] airport. This behaviour violates the employee disciplinary policy and leads to your immediate suspension from duty.”

The airline further warned that it would not tolerate any misuse of company privileges or involvement in smuggling activities. It instructed Pehnwar to provide a written response to the notice within three days, addressing the allegations against him.

PIA continues to face scrutiny over operational integrity, and this incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding smuggling activities within the aviation sector.
