PESHAWAR: As Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) grapples with a surge in terror attacks, security forces held the line on Monday, repelling assailants in Lakki Marwat, Peshawar and Khyber in separate incidents.

In Lakki Marwat, a group of 10 to 15 heavily armed militants attempted to attack the Gambila police station. However, police retaliated forcefully, pushing back the attackers.

Lakki Marwat DPO Mohammad Jawad Ishaq confirmed that the timely response prevented a major assault, forcing the militants to flee with their weapons.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar, terrorists launched a grenade attack on a police checkpoint, while another group opened fire at a Khyber police checkpoint on Bypass Road, injuring two personnel.

The wounded officers were immediately shifted to a hospital, while the attackers fled after sustaining injuries in retaliatory fire.

A separate attack was also reported at the Jamrud FC checkpoint, where terrorists engaged in a firefight with FC Bara Rifles personnel. The assailants managed to escape under the cover of darkness after intense gunfire.
