Pakistan and Iran to Strengthen Ties Pakistan\’s Foreign Minister Visits Tehran

Iran\’s President Hassan Rouhani met with Pakistan\’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. In the meeting, he expressed his country\’s willingness to strengthen bilateral ties in a number of areas.

According to the Foreign Office, during the meeting at the Presidential Palace in Tehran, FM Qureshi transmitted a message of goodwill to President Rouhani and the brotherly Iranian community on behalf of President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to FM Qureshi, the government is committed to improving bilateral ties with Iran. Pakistan is interested in fostering bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual interest under PM Imran Khan\’s vision.

He defined the two countries\’ relationship as cordial, close, and heavy, based on shared history, culture, faith, and language.

He said the Pakistani leadership thanks Iran\’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani for their continuing support for Pakistan\’s stance on Kashmiris.

Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Pakistan\’s ambassador to Iran, was also present.

Pakistan and Iran to further Cooperate in Parliamentary Ties

Later, in a meeting with the Chairman of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Party, Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani, FM Qureshi emphasised the importance of mobilising their countries\’ parliamentary friendship groups.

Another meeting took place at the National Parliament House in Tehran. During the meeting, FM Qureshi said Pakistan respected its relations with Iran based on shared religious and cultural values.

Further, the two countries decided to send parliamentary delegations to each other. The foreign minister also met with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran\’s Parliament, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation through frequent parliamentary exchanges between Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

\”Good to meet Speaker of #Iran Parliament @mb_ghalibaf…, Agreed that Ulemas from Pakistan and Iran to work jointly on #Islamophobia. Look forward to @mb_ghalibaf visiting Pakistan Parliament,\” he said in a tweet. The two countries decided to send parliamentary delegations to each other.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi\’s Visit to Pakistan Embassy in Tehran

The foreign minister also paid a visit to Pakistan\’s embassy in Tehran. There he met with the team in charge of the country\’s activities in the country.

\”Had a great visit to our Embassy in Tehran to meet with our team, working round the clock to strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties, and who work closely with the Pakistani community in Iran to strengthen our economic and cultural diplomacy footprint,\” FM Qureshi said.

The foreign minister arrived in Iran on Tuesday for a three-day official visit, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).  The Iranian foreign minister\’s advisor, as well as the director-general of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, greeted Mr Qureshi.
