Over 40 Delhi schools received a bomb threat via email. After checking all Delhi schools, the Police declared it a bomb hoax. Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi assured that the department is ensuring the security of all schools and children and will make every possible effort to continue doing it.

“We will soon reach the source of the email and take action against it,” he said.

DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar were among the 44 schools in Delhi that received a bomb threat, prompting action. Students were sent back home, while the police were informed.

Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threat

According to a copy of the email accessed by NDTV, the sender sent it at 11:38 on Sunday night. The sender claimed that they had planted multiple bombs inside the buildings.

“The bombs are small and hidden very well,” the email read.

The sender demanded $30,000 to defuse bombs.

The sender wrote, “The bombs will not cause much damage to the building, but they will injure many people when they detonate. You all deserve to suffer and lose limbs.”

The Delhi Police is investigating the IP address and looking for the sender of the email.

The alert came amid the morning commotion. School buses were arriving, parents were dropping off their children, and staff were preparing for the morning assembly. GD Goenka School made the first call to the Delhi Fire Department at 6:15 am. DPS RK Puram made another call at 7:06 am.

The fire officials, including the dog squad, bomb detection teams, and local police reached the schools and conducted the search operation. A police official said that they have found nothing suspicious so far.

Leaders Criticize Law and Order

Disappointed with the law and order situation in the national capital, Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked Home Minister Amit Shah for answers. In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Kejriwal wrote, “The people of Delhi have never seen such a bad state of law and order in Delhi before. Amit Shah ji should come and answer the people of Delhi.”

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi too questioned the BJP-ruled central government over the rise in cases of murder, ransom, firing and bomb threats in Delhi. “The law and order situation in Delhi has never been so bad before. The BJP-ruled central government has failed in its only task of providing security to the people of Delhi…,” she wrote.

“I have not seen such a state of fear in Delhi,” said AAP leader Manish Sisodia while speaking to news agency ANI. “It shocks us that our children are not safe. BJP has induced an environment of fear in Delhi. Law & order situation has collapsed in Delhi… If the national capital is not safe, what is the central government doing?” he said.

Earlier, in October, on a Sunday morning, an explosion occurred outside a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar. The explosion damaged the school wall and nearby shops and vehicles.

Following this, the very next day, on October 21, schools received an email threatening a bomb blast at all CRPF schools by Tuesday, 11 am. Authorities immediately began the investigation and found the threat to be a hoax.
